World Conference Offering 2010
We Share: Our Call and Commitment in the World
Through last Sunday, March 14th, you have given $85,000 toward the World Conference Offering. Thank you! The goal for this portion of the Conference Offering is $135,000.
The Conference Offering helps to pay for the costs of Conference (approximately US $631,000) and provide the Saints worldwide access to the events of this important week. Funds from this offering also will help keep the registration fee for Conference affordable.
In just a few short weeks, the Saints will gather together for worship, discernment, discussion, and fellowship at World Conference. No matter where you live, you have the opportunity to help make World Conference a comprehensive worldwide experience by supporting it financially.
There is still time to help. Here’s how:
* Contribute online at http://www.cofchrist.org/give using a debit or credit card.
* Use your Mission Tithes offering envelopes by writing World Conference on the World Ministries portion of the envelope.
* In Canada, mail a cheque to: Community of Christ Canadian Headquarters, 390 Speedvale Avenue East, Guelph, Ontario N1E 1N5. Cheques should be made payable to the Bishop of Canada with “World Conference Offering” written on the memo line.
Thank you for your generous giving! May we be blessed with the assurance that God goes with us always as we strive to share our mission and message with the world.
Marion Grimo, a long-time member of the Niagara Falls congregation, passed away Thursday night after suffering from Alzheimer’s disease for a number of years.
Many in the community and nearby congregations hold Marion in the high esteem for the way she lived her discipleship in establishing and running the Niagara Falls Community Kitchen for many years. She was honoured at the city, provincial and federal levels for her tireless work in feeding the hungry of the Niagara Falls community.
Visitation is Sunday 2-4pm at Morse & Son Funeral Home, 5917 Main Street, Niagara Falls [map].
Funeral is on Monday at 10:30am, conducted by Shirley Stoner.
There have been several excellent resources about the Counsel to the Church posted to the World Church website, including two separate Question and Answer pages, and an informative and interesting video interview with President Veazey.
All are encouraged to take the time to read (and re-read) the Questions and Answers and to watch (and re-watch) the interview and you carefully and prayerfully consider the Counsel to the Church and the upcoming World Conference.
The Youth Worker Training workshop scheduled for March 7 at La Salle congregation has been postponed until later in the spring. Further details to come.

In addition to what is being done at the World Church level in support of church members in Haiti, the members of the Community of Christ in Canada have contributed over $56,000 to the Oblation Fund in January and February in support of relief efforts.
These funds are being sent to the Canadian Red Cross where they will be matched by the Federal Government. The Canadian Council of Christian Charities has confirmed with CIDA that the donations given by individuals to a church that are forwarded to another Canadian registered charity doing the work in Haiti would be matched by the Federal Government.
This means that your donations to the Oblation Fund during the period designated by CIDA and which are sent to the Canadian Red Cross will be part of matching program. In other words, $112,000 is now at work assisting those affected by this terrible event.
Your continued contributions to the Oblation Fund will assist the good work that World Church is doing to assist our Haitian friends and will replenish the fund so that oblation ministry can continue throughout the church.
Thank you for your generous response.
